Intentions
Just a few words about my plans for this space. Primarily I intend to write about what I am reading, both in a professional capacity and as an avocation. I used to write a litblog in the heady days when the internet seemed like a relatively low-stakes place to empty one’s thoughts; like a lot of people who were part of that community, I miss the aimless earnestness of writing passionately about fiction with few thoughts about sordid commerce, clicks, or even retweets. I want to try to capture that spontaneity and enthusiasm here. I do want to maintain a focus on the reflective rather than the reactive (i.e., no "hot takes" about politics or controversies in academia or the latest "thought leader's" eructation) but I don’t intend to maintain a regular schedule and I don’t have a particular point to make or point of view to elucidate. I would like to focus on the enjoyment of writing and of grappling with the ideas in books. That seems worthwhile enough for now
